Record Attendance at Travel Event
More than 10,000 guests experience mammoth programme on Touratech´s site
Record numbers of visitors, a mammoth programme with a lot of action and information, interesting travel lectures and more than 40 exhibitors made Touratech's 10th Travel Event a highlight that will leave everyone with fond memories. Even though this event is continuously getting bigger and more professional, the original character of what has once started as a meeting of enthusiastic travel and motorbike fans, could still be preserved, which - last but not least - became obvious during the gathering around the camp fire after nightfall.
A little more than 10,000 visitors have been counted during the event, among them guests from all the bordering European countries, and even from overseas. Especially in the shop, at the seconds sale and in the catering area, the staff and their helpers were more than busy. Also, the offered test rides, both on and off road, were accepted very well, especially on the in-house cross country course. There, test rides on various Husqvarna models, as well as Enduro lessons were offered in collaboration with the Enduropark Hechlingen. By watching the show of Touratech's racing team, some may have been inspired to ride some rounds on the course themselves; as the extreme Enduro show acts, professionally commentated by the well-known motocross biker Bernd Eckenbach, were a real crowd puller. What Touratech's top rider Gerhard Foster, seven time German trial winner Jens ter Jung, Ian Rowley and Rolf Epting showed on the X-track made people catch their breath.
From chassis training to photography workshops, or Roadbook tours with Tripy or GPS lessons - there was something for every taste. Many visitors were interested in the factory tours which were offered hourly to look behind the scenes of Touratech. Those who had the desire to reach the highest peak had the chance to try their skills on the TT-3D climbing wall. The daily scheduled lectures were as international as their guests; they ?led? the audience to Arabia, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Africa. There were also interesting interviews with exhibitors who introduced themselves and their products, and a motorbike show that presented various bikes in Touratech design including background information regarding the development and manufacturing of the corresponding special parts. A completely new feature was the "Touratech World" with all its lifestyle and merchandising products as well as the opportunity to try the Compañero riding suit.
Since the weather was fine this year, it became obvious already on Friday that, compared to the 20th anniversary year 2010, the number of visitors would even be topped. When adventurer Joe Pichler from Salzburg presented his Multivision show "Trans Asia", about 1,500 people had gathered under the huge polygon tent, which painted awesome light effects into the night sky. Also the Touratech Racing lecture found an interested audience, even though it was already late at night.
After the BMW Motorrad GS Challenge final on Saturday evening, which also took place in front of a huge crowd, Herbert and Ramona Schwarz presented a "best of" from Touratech's travel movies. Even though it had considerably cooled off after nightfall, more than 1,700 visitors stayed to watch the most beautiful and most awesome moments of these fascinating motorbike trips. Impressions of the current Challenge and a movie about the BMW Motorrad GS Trophy 2010 completed the lectures on the big show stage, before the night ended with a gathering around the camp fire.
