On their journey through the "backyard" of the former Soviet Union they travelled more than 17,000 kilometres with their motorcycles. The new project of Charley Boorman (Race to Dakar, Long way round) and Ewan McGregor (Star Wars, Long way round) leads them through the whole of africa. The two friends are on the way with R1200GS Adventure equipped by Touratech.
Their starting point is John O’Groats in Scotland, the goal is Cap Agulhas at the southern-most tip of South Africa. The 25.000 km long trip will lead them through Lybia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Ruanda, Tansania, Botswana and along the Skeleton Coast of Namibia.

Dawn to Dusk 2008 - 12 hour Race in GB/Wales

In the breathtaking enduro-adventure “Dawn to Dusk” near Neath/South Wales BMW-Touratech-Racing achieved a great success: After twelve hours and 16 strenuous laps the two Touratech-Teams from Niedereschach/Germany finished in 2nd and 3rd place in the professional-class. Overall Lars Würdemann and Thorsten Elze ended up in 12th, Ian Rowley and Rolf Epting in 15th place amongst approximately 400 Teams.

It was our dream to get from Mexico City to Havana with many bruising miles of offroad tracks and then to take ship for Cuba itself. We had to bury this dream when the journey had already started. We would have had to overcome too many administrative barriers and last but not least, we weren't even sure if we could get the bikes through customs in Cuba. more…

Dubai Desert Challenge

On November 9th 2005 Touratech UK’s Managing Director, Nick Plumb, set out on the 2005 UAE Desert Challenge. Set in the sand dunes around Dubai the UAE is a 6 day rally that attracts top riders from around the world.
“As a Dakar Rallye competitor, the UAE is a great rally to take part in” said Nick “The shorter days make it much more enjoyable than the marathon Dakar stages, but the sand dunes themselves are made of much looser sand so are a lot harder to ride on than the Dakar dunes. It’s great practice this close to the Dakar Rallye”
